Tarte Tatin is an upside-down skillet tart made with slightly cooked fresh fruit in a caramel sauce and covered with puff pastry dough.

This is an easy yet impressive French dessert traditionally made with apples but can be substituted with pears or peaches.

Tarte Tatin was named after Stéphanie and Caroline Tatin, who created the classic apple tart at the Hôtel Tatin in the Loire Valley of France, where they became famous for this delicious dessert.

Ingredients:

- 1 sheet Frozen Puff Pastry

- 4 cooking apples, pears, or peaches (about 2 lbs)

- 1/2 cup sugar (granulated or coconut sugar)

- 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) butter

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Unfold the puff pastry onto parchment paper. Roll it out and cut it into an 11-inch circle. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator.

2. Peel, core, and slice the fruit.

3. In a 10-inch skillet, melt the butter and add the sugar. Add the fruit slices and cook over medium heat until the liquid thickens and turns golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes.

4. Cover the caramelized fruit with the chilled puff pastry, ensuring to tuck the edges of the pastry inside the skillet.

5. Bake for 20 to 23 minutes or until the pastry is golden. Cool on a wire rack. Place a platter over the skillet and then invert the pan to serve.

Enjoy your delicious Tarte Tatin!
